This afternoon we decided to take a drive and meet Jeff’s parents – in the middle of nowhere – for lunch.
They departed from Wisconsin Dells, us from Oshkosh and we met in the middle – Wautoma. And as it turns out, we stumbled upon, by default, a very great restaurant. Farm Market Deli, it was called. It was a little mom and pop type place, one without a website. But you can find it right on Main Street in Wautoma - 502 West Main. ((920) 787-2464)
Every menu selection was homemade and sounded wonderful. We started the meal with soup. We each tried a different kind. Gazpacho, chili, pasta fagioli and baked potato. All absolutely wonderful. I know because we tasted and passed, one of my favorite things to do at a new restaurant.
The menu consists of wraps, grilled items, sandwiches and salads. Farm Market Deli also sells bulk salads by the pound, fresh salsa and guacamole, among other things. It’s all seasonal goodness from local farmers and such.
I ordered the Russian Mama Sandwich ($5.95 for a whole), which is corned beef, Swiss cheese and homemade coleslaw topped with Thousand Island dressing on Rye Bread. Jeff’s dad also ordered this. (Photos were taken with my phone, sorry if they aren’t clear.)

Jeff ordered the Mozzarella Melt with chicken ($8.95), which was fresh mozzarella cheese on two pieces of sour dough bread with Caesar dressing, basil and tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil. I thought it was cute that the menu noted that this item took 10 minutes to prepare. He shared some with me and we’ll be copying this recipe at home sometime.

Jeff’s mom ordered a classic chicken salad sandwich, which wasn’t actually a menu item but since she requested it, they whipped it up for her. The chicken salad was made up of big chunks of chicken, grapes, almonds and craisins, she said. Plus, she took a pound of it home with her, so she must of really liked it.

And then we splurged and all ordered dessert. I totally cannot remember the exact names of all the things we ordered but there was some sort of espresso cake and peach cobbler and homemade ice cream in there. AND THEN, at the end the owner came out with raspberry chocolate homemade ice cream that had just been made. All was super delicious.

Needless to say, it was 100 percent worth the 45 minute drive and we will go back there over and over and over again.
